Do you do your demos on 300lb Arches CP? You use a lot of water. Arches doesn’t smoothly handle large quantity of water. I notice your strokes are very deliberate, and I haven’t seen you dab with a towel to take pigment up. I’ve got 140lb Arches cp on my easel right now. I’m dark and bold and work dry but after many washes with lots of water and wet pigment. I stretch everything.
Your paintings are so gentle and smooth. Ever considered a hot pressed surface? Smooth press Fabriano would work well with your style; has a wonderful, delicate texture and takes tons of water.
And again, you skies are marvelous and inventive. The emotion of your paintings seem to develop in your sky. A marvelous style and uniquely yours.
Good going.

Thanks for the comment on paper. I love to hear opinions from people on watercolor materials.
Yes I used 300lb arches cp for these two paintings. At that time I didn’t have chance to experiment with many other kind of papers. You mentioned smooth press from Fabriano…do you mean “soft” press?
This is the kind of paper I used much more often now:

This is a kind of surface between hot press and cold press…very smooth with just slight pebble texture. And like you said it handles water a bit better.
Love your colors. any chance you would let me know what colors your palette is made up of? Mostly wet on wet?
I can imagine what these paintings are like in real life.
thanks for the demos
