Belize – watercolor desert…

Recently I am trying to start a watercolor workshop in Belize, only to find out there is no place selling good watercolor materials in the entire country. The best thing I can find in the “largest” stationary store “Angelus Press” are some very, very cheap watercolor sets for kids, no “student” supply what-so-ever.

So I had to take 6 hours bus ride crossing the north boulder to Chetumal, Mexico to gather stuff needed for my watercolor sessions…and there isn’t many choice there, too.

Well…maybe one day people would call me “the father of watercolor in Belize”……

Won’t Cheap Joes, Jerry’s or any of the large suppliers deliver to Belize?

Your venture sound great! Good energy to you.

The fact is, I can’t afford to operate like this at the beginning, my budget is limited.
It only makes sense to import anything from the USA (via freight service) only when a large amount of supply is needed. Right now I am not even sure how many students I can get.

And I usually get my supply from Dickblick.com

Not only is there freight charges but the last time I ordered from a Miami
art store the GOB charged me $80.00 for customs duties.
