Snowy Central Park #10

Snow scene, New York, Central Park, watercolor, painting, Joseph Chiang, fine art, gift, landscape, Chinese Painting, Evening scene, bridge, lake, tree, branches, city scene

This is what the left-over paints can do…
with light washes I tried to create sense of depth
adding indigo+burnt sienna wash to the background helped push it back…
I tried to limited the amount of the layerings to the buildings…
Too much layering would bring the buildings forward…
the sense of atmosphere is achieved with preliminary wash..
before painting details…I wet the paper…use a large flat brush to quickly lay the sky and the middle ground foliage…I make sure I did everything before it dried
so there won’t be any hard edges..
colors used: cerulean blue, indigo, raw sienna, burnt sienna, yellow ochre….
