Pattern on the pig-wipe from a good artist should look better, because a good artist cherish their art material and don’t throw away something that’s still usable; as a result, it is usually thoroughly used and will appear a balanced pattern that is aesthetically pleasing to human. I find myself unconsciously search for white spot on the pig-wipe when I am painting, and pig-wipe can be reused over and over and still have good absorbency for my wasted watercolor. In my studio, I constantly have 3 to 5 pig-wipe and circulate the usage among them; eventually I find myself having a fair with them, and don’t want to throw them away. They are becoming my friends, sometimes I cherish them eve more than my fast creation of watercolor.
So how should we determine the real value of these humble objects? How should we comparer the art value of pig-wipe to the noble, expensive Arches? Isn’t it like the hierarchy of our society? Rich people are not necessary contributing, while hard-working class tends to be more beneficial….
It disgust me when I see people abandon those wipe with just few dots on it, and the abstract patterns shown on the thrown-away is actually more beautiful than the art of the users….
